Grass Fed beef and lamb
We believe in feeding our animals what they were naturally meant to eat. In the case of cattle and sheep, which are ruminants, this means a grass only diet. The term “grass-fed” has become significant in recent years due to the rise of the practice of “corn” or “grain-finishing” animals, a practice that as been widely adopted and standardized by confinement operation farms. As cattle and sheep were never intended to eat corn or grain, we do not believe in this practice, believing such a technique reduces the quality and the flavor of the meat. In addition to grass-only feeding our cattle and sheep, we rotationally graze our animals, a practice which enhances the quality of our meat as well as the health of our land.
Pastured Pork
Travel back in time; pigs were once a main character on almost every American farm, an indispensable component in the farm’s delicate web of life. Today, the story of the pig has changed significantly, once set in pastoral scenes all across America- where the pig was allowed to roam and root free, is now set in a few consolidated, large confinement operation farms- where the modern pig is condemned to a life in a crate. We have gone back to tradition with our pigs, raising them outdoors on open pasture where they are free to roam, root and dig! Pigs are very social creatures. Our pigs are the real movers and shakers on the farm. Fed vegetable excess from the farm, our pastured pigs are healthy and happy, yielding great tasting pork!
Free Range Poultry
We are proud to include our birds among a minority of chickens and turkeys in the food chain that actually see blue skies and green pastures. Given access to the “fresh outdoors” our birds supplement their diets with the native grasses and insects in our pastures. We believe this practice greatly enhances the flavor and quality of our chickens and turkeys.
